Tackling myths and misinformation
Myths and misinformation can quickly take hold, promoting negative messages about different community groups and causing local tensions and flashpoints for community conflicts.
Local authorities have a responsibility to rebut myths and misinformation and tackle the sources of these. They should also take a proactive role in providing a joined-up response to any myths and misinformation circulating in local communities, not just those about the local authorities activity and services.
