Project summary The programme started in 2007 operating in seven countries in the Near East and North Africa region and the UK. Exchanges took place between women architects from Palestine, entrepreneurs from Jordan, IT specialists from Lebanon, Egyptian judges, Tunisian film-makers and producers, sportswomen from Morocco and scientists from Syria to enable women to talk about the challenges they have faced pursuing careers in professions where they are often significantly in the minority. Networking events were held in the region to enable them to share their experiences, talk about what inspired them to work in their particular fields and also importantly how to provide support and mentoring for the next generation of young women. The next phase of the programme will involve outreach activities in schools and colleges and the development of materials and an exhibition to provide information on different careers and a series of discussions and talks by the participants and role models involved in the programme. |
