Conclusion
Considerable progress has been made on the equality and diversity front over recent years by businesses and this sector has made a huge impact in shaping wider social patterns. There has been a general and widespread acceptance of the CSR agenda and businesses have generally accepted their responsibility to their local and global communities; therefore leading the way in developing policies and practices that contribute to social justice.
However, there is now a need to recognise the power of the workplace in shaping relationships not only between people from different backgrounds in their workplaces but also that the workplace has great power at an informal and formal level of breaking down barriers between different groups and building trust and understanding across communities.
Perhaps without realising it, businesses can offer an important and crucial contribution to the way different people interact with each other and understand each other, which can contribute significantly to positive relationships and therefore civic society and social justice.
