Diversity at work
In response to the rapid demographic change that the UK has undergone in the last 50 years, and in order to keep pace with legislation and public feeling, employers have needed to be seen to act on diversity and equality issues in the workplace. Whereas some response has been slow and with protestations, it is worth remembering that whilst early attempts at a Race Relations Act prior to 1976 were stopped or weakened due to powerful business lobbying, other businesses have seen opportunity in the changing population and made a 'business case for diversity'.
