Take Part directory launched
Date: 15/12/2009
We are delighted to announce the launch of the Take Part online resource directory www.takepart.info
The directory is part of a national support package for the Take Part programme, which encourages communities and individuals to get involved in active citizenship activities and to share the learning from this involvement. It is a single source of information for anyone interested in Take Part methodologies and the wider community empowerment and engagement agendas including the duty to involve and the duty to promote democracy.
The Directory allows users to find information on the resources, guidance and learning opportunities which exist to deliver:
- learning opportunities, within a community context, that build skills and confidence
- community leadership development offering tailored support leading to civic activism and/or lay governance roles
- information about the availability of opportunities for influence and lay governance involvement across the public sector in the locality, and support for greater mobility between such roles
- access to accreditation for citizenship learning and skills development where it is required.
This information resource will be important to anyone with an interest in empowering communities to take a greater part in civic and civil activity.
The Directory is funded by Communities and Local Government (CLG) and administered by the Community Development Foundation (CDF). The Institute of Community Cohesion (iCoCo) in partnership with ekosgen and IT-West were commissioned by CDF to produce the online directory.
